James Richards

lives and works in Berlin and London. Among the recent exhibitions of the British artist were solo shows at Kunstverein Munich (2015), Cabinet Gallery, London (2015), DAAD Gallery, Berlin (2015), Rodeo Istanbul (2013), CCA Kitakyushu (2012) and Chisenhale Gallery, London (2011). In group exhibitions his work has been shown internationally including Cut to Swipe, Museum of Modern Art, New York (2014/15), Speculations on Anonymous Materials, Fredericianum Kassel (2013); Otherwise Unexplained Fires, Malmö Konsthall (2013); Frozen Lakes, Artists Space, New York (2013); and The Encyclopaedic Palace, 55th Venice Biennale 2013. Richards was awarded the 2012 Jarman Award for film and video, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award for Artists 2014, and the Ars Viva Prize 2014/15 by the Kulturkreis of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries. In 2013 he worked in Berlin on the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin programme and was nominated for the Turner Prize 2014.
